Desktop jobs on the Wickford bench
Towers that won't boot
A tower that clicks and stays black, or one that does nothing when you press power, is opened on the bench. We test the power supply, the memory and the drive before we quote.
Dust and overheating
Desktops that shut themselves down in a warm room, and fans that roar as soon as a game or a call starts, usually need the dust cleared. A dust clean is £55.
Upgrades
An older office tower often speeds up with a solid-state drive and more memory. We fit the drive and move your files across.
Gaming PCs
We also take gaming PCs that crash mid-game, run far too hot, or need a part swapped. For a new machine, see our custom PC builds. Assembly is £149.

Desktop questions, before you book the bench.
Can you make my old office desktop fast again?
Often, yes. On the bench, an older office desktop is usually held back by a spinning hard drive or not enough RAM. An SSD and a memory upgrade are the usual way we speed one up. We will say if the machine is not worth the quote.
Do you build PCs from parts I have already bought?
Yes. We can build a PC from parts you already have, or from parts we agree with you. Assembly is £149 plus the agreed parts. Every build includes a burn-in test and performance report. Our build work is covered for two years; parts keep the manufacturer's warranty.
Which parts of Wickford do you collect from?
Desktop towers are heavy and awkward to move. We collect and return for free across SS11 and SS12, including Shotgate, Runwell, Nevendon and Beauchamps. In Basildon, Billericay, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Rayleigh and Southend, drop-off at 32 Glebe Road is by appointment, or collection is by arrangement. Desktop jobs from the rest of South Essex are welcome here as well.
Do you offer out-of-hours service?
Evening and weekend collection slots are available when an arranged daytime drop-off does not suit.
